Lalit Modi, the founder of the Indian Premier League (IPL), has proposed that the tournament be scheduled to take place between October and April.
He suggests that it would be more appropriate to extend the duration of the tournament, which is currently confined to the months of April and May.
For a tournament featuring 10 teams, he has proposed a total of 94 matches—comprising 90 league-stage matches and four playoff/final-stage matches.
Modi points out that the extreme heat experienced during April and May affects not only the players but also the spectators and the tournament organizers.
Therefore, he suggests that matches could be scheduled between October and April to better align with the weather conditions.
Another proposal he has put forward is to commence the IPL tournament in January.
