The Cricket Transformation Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket recently met with the women
cricketers contracted by Sri Lanka Cricket.
The Players of the National Team, Sri Lanka ‘A’, and Under-19 participated in the meeting,
which was chaired by Mr. Eran Wickramaratne, Chairman of the Cricket Transformation
Committee.
Other members of the Committee, namely Mr. Prakash Schaffter, Honorary Secretary of Sri
Lanka Cricket; Mr. Sidath Wettimuny, Chairman of the Cricket Committee; Mr. Roshan
Mahanama; and Mr. Kumar Sangakkara, also participated in the meeting.
Mr. Dinal Phillips, President’s Counsel, Mr. Upul Kumarapperuma, President’s Counsel, Ms.
Avanthi Colombage, and Mr. Thushira Raddella, who are also members of the Cricket
Transformation Committee, were present alongside Mr. Ashley De Silva, CEO of Sri Lanka
Cricket, and Mr. Jamie Siddons, Head Coach of the Sri Lanka National Women’s Team.
Addressing the women cricketers, Mr. Eran Wickramaratne commended the remarkable
progress made by women’s cricket in Sri Lanka and described the team’s Asia Cup triumph as
“rewriting the history of women’s cricket in Sri Lanka.”
While praising the players for their dedication and hard work, Wickramaratne stated that the
Cricket Transformation Committee would work towards ensuring that women’s cricket
receives the same level of attention, opportunities, and support afforded to men’s cricket.
He also conveyed his best wishes to the Sri Lanka National Women’s Team ahead of their
participation in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.
In addition to Mr. Wickramaratne, Mr. Sidath Wettimuny, Mr. Kumar Sangakkara, and Mr.
Roshan Mahanama addressed the players, offering valuable advice on building successful
cricketing careers while maintaining a strong focus both on and off the field.
The cricketing greats emphasized that teamwork is the foundation of success and stressed the
importance of every player understanding and fulfilling their role within the team in order to
achieve positive results.
