Vansh Bedi Issues Categorical Denial Amidst Fixing Rumors
Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) prospect and Delhi wicketkeeper-batter Vansh Bedi has broken his silence regarding a recent storm of match-fixing allegations. After his name became entangled in rumors stemming from a controversial sting operation, Bedi released a firm statement on Instagram, categorically denying any involvement in “corrupt approaches” or the leaking of confidential team information.
The 23-year-old cricketer emphasized that any attempts to connect him with the ongoing controversy are “false and defamatory” and warned that his legal team is actively pursuing civil and criminal action against those circulating the claims.
The Core of the Controversy: The Tehelka Sting Operation
The speculation surrounding Bedi gathered momentum following an undercover sting operation by Tehelka involving former Ranji Trophy cricketer Rachit Bhatia. In the sting, Bhatia allegedly claimed to have manipulated five IPL 2025 matches by providing London-based bookmakers with CSK’s starting lineup via Snapchat before the toss. Bhatia purported that the information came from a “friend” within the CSK setup, leading to rampant online speculation that incorrectly pointed toward Bedi due to his association with the franchise.
Bedi explicitly addressed this in his statement, writing, “I categorically state that I am not the individual referred to by Ex-Ranji Trophy cricketer Rachit Bhatia… nor do I have any involvement whatsoever in any such activity”.
A Twist in the Tale: Bedi Reported a Corrupt Approach
Adding a significant layer to the narrative, it has emerged that Bedi himself was the one who alerted the authorities to a corrupt approach during the recent 2026 Delhi Premier League (DPL).
While representing Central Delhi Kings in the DPL, Bedi was reportedly approached by a suspected fixer. Rather than keeping it quiet, the young cricketer strictly followed anti-corruption protocols and immediately reported the incident to the Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU). A senior official from the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) confirmed this, stating that Bedi’s complaint was the only official report of a corrupt approach registered with the ACU during the tournament.
DDCA Calls for Caution Over Unverified Claims
In response to the escalating rumors, the DDCA has officially informed the BCCI and stepped in to clarify the situation. The association released a statement urging the public and media not to jump to conclusions, emphasizing that the allegations stemming from the sting operation remain “unverified” and have not been established by any competent authority. The DDCA reiterated its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy regarding corruption while stressing the importance of allowing due process to take its course.
