On one side stands Jasprit Bumrah, the most lethal pacer in Indian cricket…
On the other, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the teenage sensation of Indian cricket!
This duel stole the spotlight during the training session held in Delhi ahead of the T20 series against Afghanistan.
Returning from injury, Bumrah was back in his vintage rhythm. His very first delivery—delivered with that signature five-step run-up—pitched perfectly on a good length; Vaibhav couldn’t even get his bat to the ball. The next delivery saw a similar outcome!
A pinpoint yorker followed, testing Vaibhav once again. The fourth delivery, a ‘short-of-a-length’ ball, found the edge of the bat. In just four deliveries, 15-year-old Vaibhav got a firsthand experience of the elite standard Bumrah brings to international cricket.
Yet, this is not a failure for Vaibhav…
It is a tremendous opportunity to learn!
Vaibhav, who until recently was facing players in domestic cricket, is now facing deliveries from Bumrah—one of the world’s finest fast bowlers.
Even more significant is the fact that Bumrah himself was keen to test Vaibhav!
It is a beautiful sight that showcases how the next generation of Indian cricket is evolving.
The first T20 against Afghanistan is scheduled for September 13 in Delhi. All three matches of the series will be held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Bumrah’s pace and Vaibhav’s talent… the future of Indian cricket is truly exciting!
