Mendis produced a masterclass in anchoring the Sri Lankan innings, compiling a brilliant 131 runs to propel Sri Lanka to a commanding 325/8. In doing so, he shattered multiple individual milestones:
- Highest Individual Score in Lahore ODI Finals: Mendis surpassed Sri Lankan legend Aravinda de Silva’s iconic 107* against Australia in 1996.
- Highest Individual Score vs Pakistan in Multi-Team ODI Finals: He notched the second-highest score ever recorded against Pakistan in a tournament final, behind only Brian Lara’s 153 in 1993.
