Gunner Supercross 2026 stands out as a significant event in Sri Lanka's motor racing calendar. It was organized by the Sri Lanka Army and the Sri Lanka Association of Racing Drivers and Riders (SLARDAR). In this year's tournament, D.D.S. Kalhara won the award for the Best Motorcycle Rider, while Ashan Silva was named the Best Car Driver.The race was held at the Minneriya Artillery Regiment camp premises.

Sri Lanka Air Force Corporal Dulith Dasanayake brought great honor to Sri Lanka at the World Strength Lifting Championship. Competing in the Under-95kg Hack Lift event at the tournament held in Kyrgyzstan, he achieved the remarkable feat of winning the gold medal while setting a new world record.He lifted a weight of 260kg. Winning a gold medal alongside a world record in such a challenging international competition marks a significant milestone in the history of Sri Lankan sports.A special ceremony was organized on the 23rd at the Sri Lanka Air Force Base in Hingurakgoda to honor this outstanding achievement. Members of the Air Force Weightlifting Club and others attended this event, which was held under the patronage of Air Commodore Sanoj Jayarathna, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Air Force Weightlifting Squad.
50th National Sports Festival – 2026 (Wushu Tournament)
The Wushu events of the 50th National Sports Festival, jointly organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and the Department of Sports Development, concluded successfully and in a grand manner at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo on September 25, 26, and 27, 2026. Applying intense pressure from the very beginning and leaving their opponents with no room to maneuver, Sandun and Dilipa comfortably won the match in straight sets (2-0).The Sri Lankan players won the first set 21-11 with a clear 10-point margin and went on to win the second set 21-10, displaying a dominant performance throughout. The dominance of Sandun and Dilipa is clearly demonstrated by the fact that they did not allow their opponents to cross the 11-point mark in a single round.Winning a match by such a significant margin in the preliminary round provides a major boost to the Sri Lankan team's confidence and rankings ahead of future matches.
