Sri Lankan middle-order star Kamindu Mendis has etched his name into the record books with a magnificent performance at the iconic Gaddafi Stadium during the ODI Tri-Series Final against Pakistan.
Record-Breaking Showcase
Mendis produced a masterclass in anchoring the Sri Lankan innings, compiling a brilliant 131 runs to propel Sri Lanka to a commanding 325/8. In doing so, he shattered multiple individual milestones:
- Highest Individual Score in Lahore ODI Finals: Mendis surpassed Sri Lankan legend Aravinda de Silva’s iconic 107* against Australia in 1996.
- Highest Individual Score vs Pakistan in Multi-Team ODI Finals: He notched the second-highest score ever recorded against Pakistan in a tournament final, behind only Brian Lara’s 153 in 1993.
- Elite Sri Lankan Company: His 131 now stands among the top individual ODI final knocks in Sri Lankan cricket history alongside Sanath Jayasuriya (189) and Marvan Atapattu (132*).
