Sri Lankan fast bowler Asitha Fernando and left-arm spinner Prabath Jayasuriya have moved up five places each in the latest men’s Test rankings released by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Accordingly, Asitha Fernando has moved up to 15th place in the Test bowlers’ rankings, while Prabath Jayasuriya has moved up to 16th place.

In the batting rankings, Sri Lankan Test captain Dhananjaya de Silva has moved up two places to 22nd, while emerging batsman Sonal Dinusha has made a huge jump of 49 places to 54th.

Meanwhile, Australian pacer Mitchell Starc has become the world’s number one Test bowler for the first time in his career after taking 10 wickets against Bangladesh last week. He has overtaken New Zealand’s Matt Henry and India’s Jasprit Bumrah to reach the top spot by 10 points.

England’s Harry Brooke has maintained his top spot in the Test batting rankings, increasing his lead over Joe Root to 24 points.

Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant has moved up six places to return to the top 10 (7th) after a year away, while K. L. Rahul has moved up five places to 30th.

Indian spinner Manav Suthar, who took 10 wickets in the first Test match in Galle to defeat Sri Lanka by 165 runs, has moved up 28 places to 48th among bowlers.
