Afghan wicketkeeper and batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz has announced that he will not be playing in the 2026 Lanka Premier League (LPL) cricket tournament despite being selected by the Candy Royals team.
Gurbaz took to social media to express his gratitude to the Candy Royals management for trusting him and selecting him to represent the team in the tournament.
However, he said that he will not be able to participate in this year’s LPL tournament due to his commitments to play in the ‘Shpaghiza Cricket League’, a domestic Twenty20 tournament in Afghanistan.
“Unfortunately, I will not be able to join the Candy Royals squad this season due to my commitment to the Afghan domestic tournament, the Shpagisa Cricket League,” Gurbas said.
The Afghan player added that he had informed the Candy Royals authorities in advance that he would not be participating in the tournament in order to give them enough time to find a suitable replacement and make the necessary preparations.
