The Sri Lanka Women’s Cricket Team has registered a convincing 7-wicket victory over the Netherlands Women’s Cricket Team in the official warm-up match ahead of the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup to be held in England.
The Netherlands team, who won the toss and elected to bat first in this match held in Derby, scored a challenging total of 143 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
Heather Seegers, who strengthened the Dutch innings, scored 48 runs off 32 balls and Stere Kallis scored 45 runs, while the Sri Lankan players, who engaged in skillful bowling in the last half of the innings, managed to break the last 4 wickets of the Netherlands for 11 runs.
In reply, Sri Lanka lost their first two wickets for 30 runs in six overs, before Hasini Perera scored a quick 31 runs in 20 balls to stabilize the innings.
After that, Hansima Karunaratne took the helm of the match and acting captain Harshitha Samarawickrama, who led the team in this match in place of regular captain Chamari Atapattu, built a huge unbroken partnership of 81 runs for the fourth wicket, leading Sri Lanka to victory in the last over.
