It is reported that the proposal submitted by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) to play a short white-ball series against India in August has received a positive response from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Accordingly, some media outlets have reported, citing sources in the Sri Lanka Cricket, that further discussions will be held between the cricket bodies of the two countries during the ICC meeting being held in Singapore these days.

Accordingly, a final decision regarding this series is likely to be taken within the next two to three days.

It is also reported that if India agrees to this proposal, the tournament may be held in Colombo and Kandy. Although it was initially proposed to hold 3 ODIs and 3 T20 matches in the country, it is said that more priority has been given to the T20 matches in this tournament with the aim of the 2026 T20 World Cup.

However, some Indian media have reported that the Board of Control for Cricket in India will not agree to this tour.

The decision to postpone the Indian team’s tour of Bangladesh and the decision to postpone the Lanka Premier League tournament were the reasons for the proposal submitted by the Sri Lanka Cricket Board to play a limited-overs series between Sri Lanka and India.
