The Pakistan Super League (PSL) begins today, and three Sri Lankan players are participating in this year’s tournament.

Accordingly, Kusal Mendis will play for Peshawar Zalmi, Kusal Perera for Hyderabad Kingsmen and Dunith Wellalage for Lahore Qalandars.

The tournament will continue until May 3 and eight teams are scheduled to participate in 44 matches.

In the opening match, the Lahore Qalandars team, led by the reigning champion Shaheen Shah Afridi, will face the Hyderabad Kingsmen, led by Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne, at the Gaddafi Stadium today.

Zimbabwean all-rounder Sikandar Raza, Australian batsman Marnus Labuschagne, fast bowler Riley Meredith, New Zealand players Devon Conway, Rachin Ravindra and Mark Chapman have arrived in Lahore, local media reported.

Bangladesh players including Mustafizur Rahman, Naheed Rana and Parvez Hossain are also participating in this year’s tournament.

Due to the rise in oil prices, this year’s tournament will have to be played in empty stadiums without spectators, and the opening ceremony scheduled to be held in Lahore has also been canceled.

Although matches were previously scheduled to be held in six cities, the current crisis has limited the hosting to the cities of Lahore and Karachi.
