Indonesia’s Priyanthan bowled brilliantly to help the visitors comfortably win the first T20 International against Cambodia in Bali yesterday (23).

The series consists of eight T20 International matches.

An all-rounder, he was the opening batsman but was dismissed for 6 runs off 11 balls.

His opening partner Dharma Kesuma then took over the batting duties and scored his third T20 International century with 110 runs off 68 balls.

That included eight fours and six sixes.

Indonesia scored 167 runs for the loss of five wickets.

In reply, Cambodia, which had six players playing their T20 debuts, lost Marcel Hanekom in the second over without scoring.

Openers Shah Abrar Hossain and skipper Lukman Butt added 80 runs for the third wicket.

Cambodia were 106 for 5 in 15 overs, needing 62 runs to win, when the 28-year-old Priyanthana was called in to bowl.

He took Hossain’s wicket with the first ball and Nirmaljit Singh and Chanthon Ratanak with the next two balls to complete his hat-trick.

Mongdara Sok was saved off the fourth ball but was dismissed in the fifth.

He then dismissed Pel Venk after a wide on the last ball to complete Indonesia’s 60-run victory.

Priyanthana finished the match with impressive figures of 1–0–1–5.

This marked the first time a bowler had taken five wickets in an over in international cricket, although the feat had previously been achieved by Bangladesh’s Al-Amin Hossain and India’s Abhimanyu Mithun in men’s T20 cricket.

There have been instances where five wickets have fallen in an over in international cricket, including run-outs.

Priyanthana is the first bowler to take five wickets in a single over at international level.
