The 2025 Lanka Premier League (LPL), the sixth edition of the Twenty20 cricket tournament is likely to be played in July-August 2026, according to sources.
Even though the 2025 edition of the LPL was scheduled to be held in December this year, Sri Lanka Cricket decided to reschedule the tournament to facilitate the preparation of grounds for the T20 World Cup 2026.
In the meantime, the next season of the Lanka Premier League will have five teams. Colombo, Dambulla, Galle, Jaffna and Kandy will battle it out for the trophy.
According to sources, West Indies cricketing icon Chris Gayle has been selected official Brand Ambassador to the Lanka Premier League for the sixth season.
