The annual traditional cricket happenstance between S. Thomas’ College Mt. Lavinia and Wesley College Colombo ended in a draw at Campbell Park. This historic encounter played since 1897 is one of the oldest continuously played inter-school encounters in the island nation.

A trophy was introduced for this game in 1999 in respect of the greatest cricketer produced by Wesley Mahadevan Sathasivam who is the only player in the world to captain three countries (Ceylon, Singapore and Malaysia). Sathasivam is one of the greatest batsmen from Sri Lanka where West Indies legend Sir Garfield Sobers called “the greatest batsman ever on earth,” and Sir Frank Worrell called him “the best batsman he had ever seen”.

Last win – Wesley (2022 under Sahil Dias) – won after 50 years.

Last win – S. Thomas’ (2015 under Helakamal Nanayakkara)

Thomian Avinash Fernando’s 122 (15 fours and two sixes) was a noteworthy moment of this century old fixture.
