Following an official invitation from the Pakistani government, Deputy Minister Sugath Thilakaran left for Pakistan this morning (Nov. 19) on the instructions of the Minister of Sports to visit Pakistan to visit the Sri Lanka-Pakistan-Zimbabwe Tri-Nation T20 Cricket Tournament and to encourage the Sri Lankan cricket team. The Minister was received by the Sri Lankan High Commissioner to Pakistan, Rear Admiral Fred Seneviratne.
In view of the situation in Pakistan, it is expected that this visit will help to assess the mental state of the players in this country and to instill a good mental state in the players for the tournament and instill confidence in them.
