The first match Sri Lanka faced in the Asia Cup Women’s T20 tournament was held yesterday. It was against the United Arab Emirates.
Batting first, the Sri Lankan bowling force managed to dismiss all the wickets of the UAE team for 79 runs.
Mithali Ayodhya took 3 wickets for 14 runs, Chetana Vimukthi took 3 wickets for 16 runs and Sugandhika Kumari took 2 wickets for 18 runs.
The highest score by a player for the UAE team was 18 runs by captain Esha Osa.
Chasing an easy target of 80 runs, the Sri Lankan batsmen won the match in the 8th over, losing only one wicket.
Chamari Atapattu scored an unbeaten 48 runs while Imesha Dulani was run out for 25 runs.
