There has been a lot of concern among Asian countries regarding the facilities for cricket matches at the 2026 Asian Games to be held in Japan. Particular attention has been paid to the stadium and accommodation facilities.
It is reported that this issue was also discussed at the recent Asian Cricket Council meeting held in Bangkok. The main concerns have been expressed by Asia’s strong cricket teams, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.
10 teams are scheduled to compete in the men’s tournament and 8 teams in the women’s tournament.
Many teams have expressed their dissatisfaction with the proposed accommodation facilities for the teams playing in this tournament.
The teams currently have three options:
◾️ Staying in the city and traveling to the venue by bullet train,
◾️ Staying on a ship anchored nearby,
◾️ Staying in special tented accommodation.
But it has been suggested that none of these three options are suitable for the key players of strong teams.
Furthermore, there is an allegation that the Asian Cricket Council has been late in booking accommodation.
Although the sports bodies responsible for other sports have booked accommodation for their teams long ago, it is said that the Asian Cricket Council has not booked accommodation in advance.
