The Indian cricket team has begun its training in Colombo for the two-match Test series between Sri Lanka and India under the World Test Championship.
Before the first Test match starting on August 15 at the Galle International Cricket Stadium, the Indian team is also scheduled to participate in a three-day practice match against the Sri Lanka Cricket President’s team.
However, the withdrawal of several top players, including strong bowler Jasprit Bumrah, from the tournament due to injuries has had a severe impact on the Indian camp. Jammu and Kashmir fast bowler Aqib Nabi has been called up to the Indian Test squad for the first time in place of Bumrah. The organizers have arranged to hold the first Test match between the two countries from August 15 to 19 at the Galle International Cricket Stadium and the second Test match from August 23 to 27 at the SSC Stadium in Colombo.
