Pakistan fast bowler Naseem Shah has reportedly been fined what is believed to be the largest fine in the history of Pakistani cricket for posting a post on his social media account criticising Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

According to reports, Naseem Shah has been fined 20 million Pakistani rupees (approximately US$72,000), which is equivalent to almost eight months of his average contract salary.

According to ESPN Cricinfo, the fine is believed to be the largest ever imposed on a Pakistani cricketer.

He deleted the controversial social media post shortly after it was posted.

Naseem Shah later claimed that his social media account had been hacked and that he was not responsible for the post.

Despite that explanation, the Pakistan Cricket Board has taken disciplinary action.

It was also reported that the Pakistan Cricket Board has banned Naseem Shah’s social media advisor from any cricket-related activities.

Naseem Shah is one of Pakistan’s leading fast bowlers and holds a central contract with the Pakistan Cricket Board.

The incident becomes one of the highest-profile disciplinary actions involving a Pakistani international cricketer in recent years.
