Senuja Vekunagoda, the forward batsman of St. Joseph’s College, Colombo, scored the first century in the Sri Lanka Youth League 2026 Under-19 Provincial Cricket Tournament organized by Sri Lanka Cricket.
Senuja, who entered the field as the number 4 batsman in this match held at the Thurston Ground, Colombo, against Dambulla, played a brilliant innings that blended restraint and aggression with the aim of leading his team to victory. This young batsman, who has also represented the Sri Lanka Under-19 national team, reaffirmed his skills by scoring the first century of the tournament.
The highlight was that he completed his century by hitting a huge six. Senuja’s 100-run innings off 105 balls included 2 sixes and 6 fours.
Senuja’s brilliant innings saw Colombo North lose by 28 runs in that match. Although this was the first win recorded by the victorious Dambulla team in this tournament, their gross run-scoring rate was lower than that of the other teams, which meant they missed out on the semi-finals in the final round of matches starting tomorrow.
