You know that there are currently three main formats in cricket. That is, Test, ODI and Twenty20. Apart from that, we also see cricket tournaments like T10 and member tournaments.
In such a background, a news was reported that another new format was introduced to cricket. This format is called Test Twenty.
What is special about this is that 80 overs are played in a match. It is special that each team gets the opportunity to bat and bowl for two innings, just like in a Test match.
If the team is ahead by 75 runs or more in the first innings, it will also be possible to invite the opposing team to play a second innings continuously, just like in a Test match. The first phase of this format is scheduled to be held in India in January.
Six global franchise teams are scheduled to compete in the tournament. Three teams will compete in cities in India, while the other three will be based in Dubai, London and the United States.
Each team will consist of 16 players, including eight Indian players and eight foreign players.
Test Twenty20 is a tournament conceived by sports entrepreneur Gaurav Bahirvani, Executive Chairman of One One Six Network. Sir Clive Lloyd, A.B. De Villiers, Harbhajan Singh and Matthew Hayden are included in the advisory board.
