Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) donated cricket material bags to 16 state universities across the
country, as part of its continued efforts to enhance cricket at every level of the country.
The donated equipment will be used by the universities to compete in the upcoming InterUniversity Cricket Championship, which serves as the main cricketing competition within the
Sri Lankan state university system and forms an integral part of the 15th Sri Lanka University
Games.
The official handing-over ceremony took place last week at the SLC headquarters, with the
participation of Dr. Jayantha Dharmadasa, Honorary Vice President of International Cricket,
and Mr. Sujeeva Godaliyadda, Honorary Treasurer of Sri Lanka Cricket.
Mr. Sanjeewa Jayasinghe, Chairman of Cricket Subcommittee of Sri Lanka Universities Sports
Association and representatives from the 16 universities were present at the occasion.
Cricket Material Bag includes: Three cricket bats, four pairs of batting gloves, three pairs of
pads, two batting helmets, one set of wicket-keeping equipment and four thigh guards.
The Inter-University Cricket Championship (50-over format) will feature participation from 16
state universities and is scheduled to commence on 12th July.
This initiative by Sri Lanka Cricket aims to support the growth of cricket at every level in the
country and also foster greater engagement in the sport among university students.
