Foreign media reports that the International Cricket Council Anti-Corruption Unit has launched an investigation into Cricket Canada.
The relevant reports indicate that a “match-fixing incident” has been revealed during the 2026 T20 World Cup match between Canada and New Zealand.
The manner in which Dilpreet Brajwa, who was appointed captain of the team two weeks before the tournament, bowled the 5th over has come under suspicion.
In addition, foreign media reports have revealed that the authorities of the Canadian Cricket Board forced coaches to include players they wanted in the team.
Former Canadian cricket coach Pubudu Dassanayake says the governing body tried to include players they didn’t want in the 2024 World Cup squad and threatened to remove him from his position when he refused.
