Sri Lanka are set to make several changes to their squad for the first Test against India, with Niroshan Dickwella set to make a comeback to Test cricket after a three-year hiatus, according to reports.
The 33-year-old is expected to take over the wicketkeeping duties in place of the injured Kusal Mendis in the first Test starting in Galle on August 15.
In addition to Dickwella’s return, fast bowler Dilshan Madushanka and spinner Ramesh Mendis are set to be recalled to the squad.
In addition, spinner Keshara Nuwantha, who has not yet been called up to the international team due to his performances against ‘India A’ and in the recent warm-up match, is also set to be included in the Test squad for the first time. Meanwhile, the focus is on including fast bowler Lahiru Kumara in the squad based on his fitness.
Lahiru Udara is expected to open the innings alongside Nishan Madushka in place of Pathum Nissanka, who is recovering from a wrist surgery.
Sri Lanka will face the India series with a mix of experienced and rookie players, aiming to further cement their place in the World Test Championship.
