Badminton player Viren Nettasinghe, who qualified for the Olympics held in Paris this year.

Viren meet the Minister of Tourism and Lands and the Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Mr. Harin Fernando.

As well as being the first Sri Lankan player to qualify for the Olympics this year, Viren Nettasinghe is also the youngest badminton player.

20-year-old Viren Nettasinghe has participated in competitions held in various countries around the world in the last few months to meet the qualification level.

In 2012, Niluka Karunaratne passed the performance level and directly won the Olympic mandate.

Viren Nettasinghe is the Sri Lankan badminton player who did such a feat after that.
