Three new players have been selected for the final Sri Lanka netball squad for the Asian Netball Championship to be held in August this year.
It is also noteworthy that Thilini Wattegedara, who had been out of the Sri Lanka team since 2019, has returned to the national netball team. She represented the Air Force and has performed well in several tournaments as a talented midfielder.
The new netball administration has focused on providing international experience to talented emerging players, and Thimi Mayara Wasantapriya, who played for Fair First, Thumalka Ekanayake from Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala, and Anjalika Thilakaratne from Dehiwala Presbyterian Girls have been added as new players.
Thimi Mayara Wasantapriya has also excelled as a volleyball player in recent times, and is the daughter of former volleyball captain Kalika Wasantapriya.
The Sri Lanka netball squad that will travel to Hong Kong for the Asian Netball Championships is as follows:
