Sri Lanka’s Sandun Madhusanka and Dilipa Chamika achieved a decisive victory over South Korea in a Pool D match of the men’s beach volleyball preliminary round at the 20th Asian Games, currently taking place in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
The Sri Lankan duo faced the South Korean pair of Oh Jeongtaek and Bae Sangbin. Applying intense pressure from the very beginning and leaving their opponents with no room to maneuver, Sandun and Dilipa comfortably won the match in straight sets (2-0).
The Sri Lankan players won the first set 21-11 with a clear 10-point margin and went on to win the second set 21-10, displaying a dominant performance throughout. The dominance of Sandun and Dilipa is clearly demonstrated by the fact that they did not allow their opponents to cross the 11-point mark in a single round.
Winning a match by such a significant margin in the preliminary round provides a major boost to the Sri Lankan team’s confidence and rankings ahead of future matches.
