At the age when she should be playing, India’s amazing talent Elina Mishra from Odisha made history on the 64-square chess board. Elina has become the youngest female FIDE-rated chess player by achieving a FIDE rating at the age of just 4 years 6 months and 16 days.
Her 𝗕𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘇 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝟭𝟰𝟯𝟮, 𝗙𝗜𝗗𝗘 𝗜𝗗 𝟱𝟰𝟳𝟬𝟯𝟳88𝟯𝟬. Born on February 15, 2022. In blitz chess, where quick decisions, quick thinking and the ability to make the right moves under pressure are very important, achieving a rating at such a young age is a testament to Elina’s talent. Even more amazing—Elina is the only female chess player born in 2022 or later to have a FIDE rating in any format.
Elina’s journey is no less exciting. In 2025, she came second in the U-5 women’s category in a FIDE-rated competition, and in 2026, she became the champion of the Odisha State U-7 Women’s Chess Championship. Elina’s mother Chandrima Ghosh expressed her gratitude to everyone who stood by her and helped her on this journey.
