The first stage of the three-stage “Police Cycling Tour 2026”, organised by the Sri Lanka Police for the first time to commemorate the 160th anniversary of the Sri Lanka Police, commenced on the morning of 01 September 2026 in front of Police Headquarters and concluded in Dambulla that evening.
Sri Lanka Army athlete Pathum Weerasinghe, competing under race number 67, secured first place after completing the stage in 3 hours, 15 minutes and 28 seconds.
Second Place:
Chaturanga Madushanka Silva, an athlete representing the Mount Lavinia Municipal Council and competing under race number 50, secured second place with a finishing time of 3 hours, 15 minutes and 34 seconds.
Third Place:
Chamod De Silva, a Sri Lanka Air Force athlete competing under race number 28, secured third place after completing the stage in 3 hours, 15 minutes and 36 seconds.
Cash prizes and certificates were presented to the winners under the patronage of Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Central Province, Mr. Lalith Pathinayake.
The second stage of the Police Cycling Tour 2026 commenced from the Dambulla Police Station on the morning of 02 September 2026 and proceeded through Anuradhapura, Puttalam, Maradankadawala, Thirappane, Anuradhapura, Nochchiyagama and Kalaoya before concluding in Puttalam. The stage covered an estimated distance of 140 kilometres.
