Sports equipment including high jump mats distributed to several schools in Negombo and Katana – The program is being implemented under the full supervision of Deputy Minister Sugath Thilakaratne.
Under the “Sports Equipment for Schools Program” implemented islandwide by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the distribution of sports equipment to several schools that requested sports equipment from the Negombo electorate was successfully carried out yesterday (July 09).
This project was organized under the full supervision and guidance of Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Sugath Thilakaratne.
High Jump Mats and other essential sports equipment were officially handed over to the following schools elected representing the Negombo electorate:
Katana St. Joseph’s Junior College
Kochchikade Christ King’s College
Negombo Vidyalankara College
Negombo St. Joseph’s College
The Katana Pradeshiya Sabha Chairperson Ms. Nishani Jayakody, Negombo Municipal Councillors Mr. Rohan Athukorala and Mr. Ronnie Prashantha participated in the handover of these sports equipment.
Also present were Ms. D. Lakmini, Accountant of the Sports Development Department, Departmental Officers, Principals of the relevant schools, Teachers, Sports Officers and a group of Sports Officers.
This program is implemented in line with the Ministry’s policy of improving infrastructure within the school system, in order to hone the talents of school athletes to international standards.
