Sri Lanka’s official sports contingent is scheduled to depart next Sunday, 13 September 2026, for the 20th Asian Games, which will begin on 19 September in Nagoya, Japan. The Sri Lankan team will compete in 25 sports, with 156 athletes in total including 18 athletes from the Sri Lanka Air Force.
Group Captain Eranda Geeganage of Sri Lanka Air Force will serve as the Chef de Mission for the Asian Games delegation. He is currently the Secretary of the Air Force Sports Council and the President of the Sri Lanka Squash Association. He is also a member of the International Military Sports Council and has made notable contributions to sports both locally and internationally.
World champion javelin thrower and Air Force athlete Sergeant Rumesh Tharanga will lead the entire Sri Lankan sports contingent. Air Force pentathlete Flying Officer Isiwarana de Silva has been granted the honour of carrying the Sri Lankan national flag at both the opening and closing ceremonies.
