At the end of the Asian Relay Championships, all five teams representing Sri Lanka managed to finish in the top four.
Although the men’s 4×400 team settled for the bronze medal after a tough battle, it is hoped that they will be able to reach the peak of their potential at the Asian Games. The women’s 4×400 team, including two junior athletes, managed to secure third place. However, they were stripped of the medal following a complaint by India regarding an obstruction after the final baton exchange.
The men’s 4×100 team finished fourth, breaking Sri Lanka’s record of having the fastest team at the time at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
The team that participated in the 4x100m mixed relay, an amateur event for the country, which also included the participation of a young athlete, had to settle for fourth place.
The mixed 4x400m team that participated also finished fourth.
It is worth noting that our neighboring country India secured fifth places in both the 4x400m women’s and men’s events.
