Argentina captain Lionel Messi has set four more Guinness World Records at the ongoing FIFA World Cup.

In a statement on social media, Guinness World Records said that Messi has further cemented his place among the greatest footballers in the game by breaking four records in a single day.

The new records set by Messi are:

Messi now holds the record for the most goals scored by a footballer in a FIFA World Cup (18 goals).

He also set the following new records:

– Most World Cup appearances: 28

– Most World Cup wins: 18

– Most minutes on the pitch in World Cup history: 2,489

“We are witnessing this for history,” said Guinness World Records in a statement acknowledging the Argentine football star’s latest milestone.

The records add further recognition to Messi’s remarkable career, which has seen him win multiple Ballon d’Or awards, win the FIFA World Cup with Argentina and rewrite football history at the age of 39.

His latest achievements come as Messi once again plays a key role in Argentina’s team, which is currently participating in the 2026 FIFA World Cup as the reigning world champions.
