The World Athletics U20 Championships will be held in Eugene, Oregon, USA, from 5 to 9 August.
A team comprising 17 athletes will take part to the event.
Mr. Prasanna Aluvihare, a former javelin throw champion, is serving as the team manager for this tour. Ms. Geetha Nandani Pathirajawasam serves as the Safeguarding Officer, while four coaches—Dhanushka Perera, Dulip Dushmantha, Nipuna Nirmal Kumara, and Buddhika Nu wan—are accompanying the team.
Sadev Rajakaruna (200m, 400m, and 4x400m) and Omel Silva (200m, 400m, and 4x400m) will compete, while Thisen Ranvidu, I.M. Bogoda, and I. Edirisinghe will represent the 4x400m relay team; additionally, G.L.N.D. Liyanage (800m), Nimasha Dias, and M.A. Rifai (400m hurdles) are set to participate. A.T.P. Mendis and Pahan Nethya Sampath will compete in the high jump, Theshara Fernando and Hansana Jayasinghe in the triple jump, Themiya Thabrew in the javelin throw, and Saad Faleel in the 100m race.
Representing the women’s team, Dilanma Ransini Perera and Risansa Hirupama will compete in the 200m event, while Tharushi Abhisheka Pemasiri will represent in 800m for the Sri Lankan team at the World Athletics U20 Championships.
