The International Cricket Council (ICC) executive board and committee meetings scheduled for Doha later this month have been cancelled due to the ongoing military conflict in the Middle East.

According to ESPNcricinfo, specific meetings, particularly those involving the finance committee, will take place in the coming weeks.

The possibility of holding in-person meetings in April remains open, but it depends on whether airspace reopens sufficiently for board and committee members to travel safely, ESPNcricinfo said.

The meetings, originally scheduled for March 25-27, were expected to bring together ICC board directors, CEOs, committee members and senior ICC leadership.

The meetings had three main items on the agenda: global broadcasting rights, as the current ICC-JioStar agreement expires in 2027; preliminary discussions on the Future Tour Programme (FTP); and Olympic qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Games.

This was to be the first ICC meeting to be held in Qatar, a country that has seen a 447% growth in cricket participation.

The crisis in West Asia has also affected the international cricket schedule. The Afghanistan-Sri Lanka series, scheduled to be held in the United Arab Emirates from March 13 to 25, is now reportedly being considered for indefinite postponement.
