Last year’s women’s singles champion, Ega Swiatek of Poland, had to withdraw from the round of 32 of this year’s Wimbledon tennis tournament.
That was after losing her match against Alexandra Eala of the Philippines in that round.
The 21-year-old Alexandra Eala won the match 2-0.
The score was 6-7, 6-2.
Swiatek is ranked third in the world rankings, while Alexandra is ranked 32nd.
Alexandra Eala has been training at the Rafael Nadal Tennis Academy, and it is noteworthy that Ega Swiatek has received the relevant certificate from her.
This is the highest victory achieved by a Filipino player in a Grand Slam tennis tournament.
