15-year-old Indian boy Vandan Dhandashwari has defeated world number one chess player Magnus Carlsen.
Foreign media reports that Vandan, who played with white pieces in the second round of the weekly “Titled Tuesday” tournament organized by a website, has recorded this breakthrough victory in 50 moves against Magnus Carlsen, who has a bonus of 2,823 points.
Vandan did not inform his parents or even his coach about this remarkable victory, and only told him about it when his father saw the match details online and asked.
“He joined this tournament at our insistence. He told us about the victory only after his father asked,” said Vandan’s mother.
The next goal of 15-year-old Vandan, who studies at Sardar Patel College in Delhi, is to achieve the title of International Master.
