The International Cricket Council has named the squad for the ICC U-19 Men’s tournament.

Sri Lanka is represented by Viran Chamudith.

Three players from India, the U-19 Cricket World Cup champions, have been named in the squad, one of which is Vaibhav Suryavanshi.

Suryavanshi, who scored a brilliant 175 off 80 balls in the final against England and was later crowned player of the tournament, will join Indian players Kanishk Chauhan and Henil Patel in the 12-man squad.

Chauhan has consistently made valuable contributions with both bat and ball, and Patel’s 11 wickets included a brilliant bowling haul of 5 for 16 against the USA.

Runners-up England also have three players, with Thomas Reve named as captain and wicketkeeper.

Reve scored 330 runs at an average of just 66, including a match-winning century in the semi-final against Australia.

Reve is joined by Manny Lumsden, the tournament’s leading wicket-taker, and Ben Mayes, the tournament’s top scorer with 444 runs, including 191 against Scotland.

Mayes needed one more run to equal the record for the highest individual score in an ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup, set four days earlier by Sri Lanka’s Viran Chamuditha.

He hit 26 fours and a six while chasing Chamuditha’s 192 against Japan.

Afghanistan pair Faisal Khan Shinozada and Nuristani Omarzai have both been selected after playing key roles in taking their country to the semi-finals.

Faisal finished the tournament with consecutive centuries against Ireland and India, while Nuristani took 14 wickets, including five for nine, against Tanzania.

Australian captain Oliver Peake also scored two centuries, and has scored over 100 runs against the West Indies and against England in the last four matches.

Pakistan’s Ali Raza and West Indies’ Vittel Laws complete the 12-man squad.

Raza took 13 wickets at a rate of more than four per over, while Jamaican left-arm spinner Laws took 10 wickets in his five matches.
