U.V. Kalhari Madirika of the Southern Province Crowned National Games Race Walking Champion in women’s category

U.V. Kalhari Madirika of the Southern Province clinched the Men’s and Women’s titles respectively at the 50th National Sports Festival Race Walking Championship, held this morning (05).

In the Women’s event, which flagged off in front of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, U.V. Kalhari Madirika (Bib No. 162) of the Southern Province secured the first place on the podium with a finishing time of 1:47:57. She was closely followed by her fellow provincial athletes, T.V. Hashini Lakshani (Bib No. 161) who timed 1:56:00 for second place, and P.B. Gayani (Bib No. 165) with a time of 1:57:04 for third place. With a clean sweep of the top three spots, the Southern Province comfortably claimed the Women’s Team Championship.
