
Defending champions Malaysia tired Sri Lanka 62-40 in their 13th Asian youth Under-21 Netball Championship first-round match played in South Korea yesterday.
Eleven countries from the Asian region are opposing in this tournament, which is organised by Netball Asia and South Korea Netball Federation.
Previously, Sri Lanka defeated Hong Kong (50-31) and India (71-30) in the preliminary round matches.
Sri Lanka lost the first quarter (10-14), second quarter (9-11), third quarter (8-21) and the fourth quarter (13-16) with the final score as 40-62 in favour of Malaysia.
Sri Lanka is planned to play against the former runners-up Singapore today in the final match of the preliminary round. If they lose to Singapore, Sri Lanka will lose the opportunity to advance to the semi-finals of the tournament.
