The official concept paper of the National High Performance Centre is handed over to the Minister of Sports.

The official concept paper related to the National High Performance Centre was officially handed over to the Minister of Sports, Sunil Kumara Gamage, on 30th July 2026 at the Ministry of Sports.

It is expected that the future activities of this innovative project, which aims to elevate the country’s sports sector to the international level and enhance the skills of athletes, will be implemented more systematically through this concept paper.

This special event was organized under the leadership of Prasantha Jayalal, and members of the Sports Council, the Sports Development Department, members of the Expert Committee, as well as a group of officials representing the Medical Institute and the Sri Lanka Cricket Council actively participated in it.

“The establishment of this center will provide international-level training facilities to local athletes and usher in a new era in the field of sports.”

With the implementation of this concept paper, the necessary initial steps are currently being prepared to take Sri Lanka’s sports training and scientific background to a new dimension.
