
Fighters from the K-Lions Taekwondo Academy, Katuneriya, displayed their warrior talents at the 2025 All-Island Schools Taekwondo Championship, which finished recently at the CUT Sports Ground in Matara.
The academy’s fascinating performance was highlighted by its talented fighters, who won an impressive collection of medals. The winners from K-Lions Academy are:
Gold medal winners:
Keshan Nethmina (51kg-55kg) – St. Joseph Vaz College, Wennappuwa
Sayumi Rehansa (55kg-58kg) – Holy Family Convent, Marawila
Angela Bernadette (46kg-49kg) – Holy Family Convent, Marawila
Silver medal winner:
Sherena Sanjali (44kg-46kg) – Holy Family Convent, Wennappuwa
Bronze medal winners:
Vinumi Onethra (49kg-52kg) – Dhammissara National School, Nattandiya
Pasindu Arunodhya (74kg-80kg) – St. Joseph Vaz College, Wennappuwa
Ashen Induwara (45kg-48kg) – St. John Paul II College, Wennappuwa
The K-Lions getup was expertly guided by the dynamic duo of head coach Upul Fernando and assistant coach Akash Fernando, who have been instrumental in shaping the young fighters into champions. Their leadership and mentorship have clearly paid off, as evidenced by the outstanding performance of the K-Lions at the championship.
