The Sri Lanka Police “Police Bike Ride 2026”, organized to mark the 160th anniversary of the Sri Lanka Police, is being detained as the first-ever three-stage cycling event of its kind.

Held under the direction of the Ministry of Sports and the Sri Lanka Cycling Federation, the event objectives to strengthen trust and mutual understanding between the Police and the youth community, while encouraging awareness on maintaining law and order and preventing drug abuse among young people.

The event is being coordinated by Race Coordinator Officer Nalin Adikari Arachchuge, with Director Traffic SSP Ranagala, Cycling Secretary, playing a key role in the cycling-related coordination and arrangements.

The ride started on 1 September 2026 from the vicinity of the Colombo Police Headquarters. The first stage enclosed the route from Colombo to Dambulla, with cyclists receiving strong support from police officers and the public along the route through Peliyagoda, Nittambuwa, Warakapola, Kurunegala and Melsiripura.

The second stage, covering almost 140 kilometres, is scheduled to proceed from Dambulla to Puttalam via Anuradhapura, passing through areas including Maradankadawala, Thirappane, Anuradhapura, Nochchiyagama and Kalaoya.

The final stage will take the cyclists from Puttalam to the Colombo Police Headquarters, finishing the three-stage journey commemorating the 160th anniversary of the Sri Lanka Police.
