The battle for third place in the Central Asian Volleyball Championship was not just a match. The pressure was on, and the nerves were tested, but the Sri Lankan team managed to secure a 3-2 victory at the end of the round.
The turning point of the match was the fifth round. Uzbekistan had complete control of the match and the victory was about to be lost to us, when Sri Lankan captain Deepthi came to the fore. Deepthi, who took on the responsibility of leadership, not only left the Uzbek attackers helpless, but the entire difference in the match turned in Sri Lanka’s favor.
Our boys, who did not stop there, did not give up the fight until the last moment. The Uzbekistan defense was completely shattered by the fast back-row attacks, especially by Tarusha. The battle, which had been held with bated breath until the final score, ended with Sri Lanka winning the bronze medal!
