Indrawansa Herath has been designated as an official umpire at the Masters Hockey World Cup (Over 50, 55 and 60), a prestigious international tournament to be detained in Brasschaat, Belgium, from August 6th to 16th, 2026.
His assortment for this internationally recognized event is a significant achievement and a matter of great pride for Sri Lankan hockey. He has epitomized Sri Lanka in the same capacity at International Masters Hockey tournaments held in England, New Zealand and Hong Kong, demonstrating his experience and commitment to the sport.
An ex-Matale Thomian, he was a member of the Sri Lankan hockey team in 1984/85. He captained the Matale District junior and senior teams and the Central Province hockey teams. In 1996, he captained the Sri Lanka hockey team in an international hockey tournament held in Bangkok, Thailand. He also coached St. Thomas College, Matale, Sri Sangamitta College, Matale, Hindu College, Matale and Dharmaraja College, Kandy, where he has formed many stickers for the national team.
