Soleil Nadinya Tauscher and Luna Durangi Tauscher, two gymnasts of Sri Lankan heritage representing the ‘Genève Gymnastique Artistique’ club in Switzerland, met the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Mr. Sunil Kumara Gamage, today (22) at the Ministry premises.
The two young athletes are the daughters of Mr. Gerhard Tauscher, a German national, and Mrs. Luvini Ranasinghe, a Sri Lankan national. Among them, 10-year-old Soleil Tauscher is an exceptionally talented gymnast who secured the Under-11 Swiss National Championship title (Swiss Champion U11) with an outstanding performance at the Swiss National Championships 2026.
Her 8-year-old sister, Luna Tauscher, is also an emerging talent showcasing remarkable skills in gymnastics. Having already achieved success at various competitive levels, both gymnasts expressed their strong desire to represent Sri Lanka in future international competitions during their interaction with the Minister.
Commending their dedication and enthusiasm to bring pride to their motherland, the Minister of Sports, Mr. Sunil Kumara Gamage, warmly welcomed their willingness to represent Sri Lanka and assured that the Ministry would extend all necessary support and assistance for their sporting journey.
The parents of the athletes and officials from the Ministry were also present at the occasion.
