Commonwealth medal-winning sprinter Yupun Abeykoon has announced his retirement from the sport

Commonwealth medal-winning sprinter Yupun Abeykoon has announced his retirement from competition. He made the announcement via his official Facebook account.
The 31-year-old Yupun Abeykoon competed in the 100 and 200 meters.
He also holds the Sri Lankan records in both events.
Yupun, who has also shown his talent at the international level, has won a bronze medal in the 100m event at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games, a gold medal in the 100m men’s relay at the 2019 Kathmandu South Asian Games, and a bronze medal in the 100m men’s relay at the 2015 World Military Games.
Yupun Abeykoon also holds the Asian record in the 150m men’s race.
He has also set a record as the first Sri Lankan to participate in a Diamond League athletics competition.
