The Bolgoda Lake Rowing Club delivered an exceptional performance at the Asian Rowing Cup 2025, held in Shangrao, China, bringing home two Gold Medals and one Silver Medal in the junior women’s events.
The highlight of the regatta came from the Junior Women’s Quadruple Sculls (4x) crew — Havishka Perera, Vethmi Weeraratne, Imandi Mahawatte, and Menoli Yatigamma — who powered their way to a Gold Medal with a superb display of skill, synchronization, and determination, outperforming strong competition from across Asia, including the host nation China.
Adding to the club’s glory, the Junior Women’s Double Sculls (J2x) crews achieved outstanding results, winning both the Gold and Silver Medals in their event. The performances showcased the depth of talent and technical excellence emerging from the Bolgoda Lake Rowing Club.
The team’s success is a reflection of the dedicated guidance of Coach Nirmal Gunarathne, whose expertise, leadership, and unwavering commitment were key to the athletes’ preparation and composure on the international stage. Despite facing several challenges and uncertainties before the competition, the unity and determination of the athletes, parents, and coaching team made this remarkable achievement possible.
