Speedbay, a part of the David Peiris Group of Companies marked the arrival of the Sodikart brand in Sri Lanka at Waters Edge on recently.

This marks the beginning of a new era in motorsports entertainment in Sri Lanka. Sodikart, a French manufacturer established 44 years ago by Gildas Merian in Sautron near Nantes, is a global frontrunner in both competition karting and leisure.

Since moving its production to a purpose-built factory in Coueron in 1998 all Sodi chassis have been designed and built there to exacting standards.

Sodi brings a wide array of products and services including Sodi rental karts for leisure and its racing chassis for competitions.

It also organises key karting events via 3MK events, notably Sodi World Series (SWS) and the challenge Rotax Series in France, all reinforcing Sodikart’s global image for innovation, technical excellence, safety and customer satisfaction across five continents.

For the first time Lankan drivers and fans of motorsports will have the chance to experience karts that are faster, more modern and engineered with latest technology to deliver world-class performance.

These karts also feature fully adjustable seats and pedals, allowing each driver to accomplish a perfect ergonomic fit without the need for additional modifications, while maintaining the highest levels of safety and comfort.

All participants via SpeedBay will henceforth be eligible to internationally contest in the SWS  – one of the world’s biggest karting competitions, placing them on the same global leaderboard as drivers from over 40 nations.

The launch of the Sodikart’s was presided over by David Peiris Group of Companies President David Peiris, David Peiris Racing and Leisure (Pvt.) Ltd. Chairperson Eshan Peiris and Sodikart Asia Director Alex Tawil.

Tawil stated: “We are excited to bring Sodikart to Lanka in collaboration with SpeedBay and the David Peiris Group. What motivates us about this partnership is the sheer growth we witness in motorsports in this country, the appetite for international-standard experiences and the professionalism SpeedBay brings to the table. This indicates a huge opportunity, and believe our karts will help define the standard here.”

Eshan Peiris stated: “Introducing the Sodi brand to Sri Lanka is a key milestone. This launch is not only about the improved specifications of the karts but also about giving every driver the chance to compete at a world-class level. With this endeavour we are placing Sri Lanka firmly on the global karting map.”
